Monsters The Lyle And Erik Menendez Story Episode 4 Recap: Episode 4 starts with Lyle recalling the days before the murder in front of Leslie. He first recalls the night when Erik and his friend went to some house to steal some jewellery, watches, and cash. The next day when the police investigated, they got caught and part of their punishment was that they needed to see a therapist, Dr Jerome Oziel. Then Leslie tells Lyle that Erik has already confessed that Lyle has sexually abused him and that their father used to abuse Lyle.
At first, Lyle defended his father that he was a very good person but then after his lawyer, Jill insisted him share the truth, which could help in his case he started sharing things. He recalled that his dad always wanted him to be the best in everything. Even though he would win the tennis tournament, he would get slapped if his grades were low or if he wrote a weak essay.
His da was obsessed with Lyle getting into Ivy League School. So his dad wrote the essay for him so he could get into that school and when Erik asked his dad isn’t that cheating?
Jose said that if they want to succeed then they have to cheat, lie and steal but win and never get caught. Later, Lyle got into Princeton where after a year he got copying from his partner’s psychology lab assignment from which the Principal decided to expel him from the college. Jose then met his principal and dominated him with money saying his son didn’t get caught in something important and moreover, he couldn’t be expelled from Princeton. Lastly, the principal agreed that the best he could do was a one-year suspension.

Jose strictly told Lyle not to tell anyone about this and that he would get him a job for the year. His father then introduced him to his company as a new management trainee and even lied about his grades and everything. At this point, Lyle started to lose his hair and when Jose noticed it, he insisted he wear a wig as he would be a public face so he needed to have good hair.
Lyle then recalls how his father introduced him towards sexual acts and forced Erik to participate in it. He shared the sexu@l abuse incidents he had with his father. At this point, Lyle started to do those things with Erik to normalize what was going on in the family. In these days his father use to have showers with Lyle and used to r@pe him. When Lyle told him to stop because it hurt too much then he stopped and started doing it with Erik. The worst part was that his father was still doing it with Erik even when he grew older. One day, Lyle told his father to stop doing it with Erik or he would tell everyone what was going on. After listening to this his father got so angry which made them clear that he was going to kill them both.

Meanwhile, Leslie going to meet Donovan, Lyle’s best friend whose ID they used to purchase the shotguns. When Leslie asks him if Lyle has shared any secrets about his father with him then Donovan says that Lyle has confessed to being sexu@lly abused by his father weeks before the murder to him.
On the other hand, Jill is getting Lyle’s statement where he recalls how his mother was a fan of guns and she even bought one before they murdered her because once they went on a boating trip where they literally felt that their parents were going to kill them. So they didn’t want to give them another chance where something like this could happen and decided to finally buy the shotguns and even went for training to fire them properly. With this statement, episode 4 ends there.
