Bodkin Episode 3 Recap and Explained

Bodkin Episode 3 Recap: Netflix is back with another mystery investigation thriller series. Bodkin, a seven-episodic thriller show based in Ireland has been premiered through Netflix. The plot revolves around a place called Bodkin from Ireland, and three persons from the town have gone missing for two decades. A famous podcaster and two journalists team up together to make a podcast about the secrets behind the unexpected disappearances from the past.

Episode 3 begins at the mortuary lab where Darragh’s body gets cleaned for the funeral ceremony. On the morning, Dove and the team travelled to Darragh’s funeral ceremony in Sean’s car. While travelling, they notice Seamus making aggressive sounds at the Samhain festival spot. The organisers arranged everything for the festival, but Seamus didn’t want that to happen. Sean sees everything from the car and rushes towards Seamus.

Gilbert also tries to intervene in their conversation and makes a full stop for it. After these events, Dove and others go to the funeral ceremony. Darragh is crying in front of the house, Emmy thinks that it’s unnecessary to go inside because they literally didn’t know the deceased person.

Gilbert convinces her and takes everyone inside to see Darragh’s body. The funeral service coordinator Mary Donovan meets Dove and they share a conversation. Dove asks her about the way of death, she replies that it’s an unexpected accident only. Later, Dove notices Seamus going inside the kitchen while everyone praying for Darragh. Seamus starts eating a sandwich and tuna, Dove initiates a small conversation with him.

They start arguments against each other, in the middle of the conversation, Seamus mentions an incident that happened for Dove in London. Dove gets shocked for some time and goes outside the kitchen. Meanwhile, Mary Donovan sitting outside the house, drinking alcohol. Dove joins with her and takes the bottle from her. They both create unexpected chemistry at the ceremony. Mary Donovan flirts with Dove for some time during the drinks.

On the other hand, Gilbert meets with Franks’s friend. She mentions the money indirectly, but later Gilbert asks her about Malachy, and she confesses that she doesn’t know him at all. Outside the house few local youngsters telling lies to Emmy, Sean rescues her from them and leaves the place. Fintan, the Samhain festival organiser comes for a talk with Emmy. When she asks him first, he rejects her request for a conversation but later comes in for a chat with her. Fintan explains to Emmy about the day of their disappearance. He was supposed to meet Teddy in the woods, but he missed Teddy because of his girlfriend. Fintan still regrets not meeting Teddy on the night of his disappearance.

Meanwhile, at the same time, Darragh’s sister initiates a conversation with Gilbert in a private space. She explains about the past events. Gilbert learns that Darragh was sent to prison once and came back along with Malachy. He took advantage of Darragh when he made him rent land. Darragh had been in love with Malachy and when Malachy disappeared, his brother Seamus took over the lease. Meanwhile, Fintan explains that he heard a car crash during the night of the disappearance when he reached the spot, he saw a mythical blacksmith named Jackie coming from the Lake. On the other hand, Dove goes looking for some answers, she goes directly to Seamus’s house. She finds a hidden locker, when she enters the small hidden room, she sees some old photographs of Seamus and Fiona.

Dove is shocked to see the details and also witnesses an unlicensed gun inside the locker. Later that night, Emmy goes along with Fintan to his house and shares some intimate moments. Meanwhile, Gilbert and Dove go to a pub and share their findings. When they cross-checked everything, they found out that, Seamus killed Fiona and Malachy. Dove and Gilbert finally start sharing a good bond with each other after the drinks.

Dove hit Frank’s nose when they were leaving the pub. They run for some time and in the end, Gilbert shares about his miserable life. The next day morning, Gilbert and Dove having breakfast, and Emmy comes back home after the intimate moments at Fintan’s house.

Later, everyone goes to the final ceremony for Darragh. Gilbert approaches Seamus for a conversation about Malachy and Fiona. Seamus takes on boat ride into the sea to throw Darragh’s eyeglasses in there. Gilbert slowly enquires about the past and Seamus replies to him like an innocent person. At the same time, one of the organisers informs Dove about the car crash. The podcasters found the location of the crash and went looking for the car. Dove walks into the water in search of the car, she finds it and calls the police. The seats were empty and they didn’t find anything initially. Later on in the dickey, they found two bodies filled with dirt. They concluded that those were the remains of Malachy and Fiona.

Overall the third episode was excellent. The ending part of the episode was one of the highlights. The curiosity part about the show is started from this episode only. Can’t wait to watch the next episodes.
