Daniel in Gangs of Galicia: A 7-episode web series newly released on Netflix based on a true story taken from the case, ‘Operation Necora’ which happened in Cambados. During those times, the Galician region was witnessing one of the highest imports and exports of tobacco and other harmful drugs.
As these instances were rising, the court was forced to take some actions against this and hence initiated an operation against the drug mafia to maintain law and order in the state. The web series, Gangs of Galicia has become one the most successful Spanish shows of 2024 and has made its way to the top lists of Netflix in every country.
The story follows Ana, the lead protagonist, whose character is performed by Clara, working as a lawyer and Daniel, performed by Tamar Novas, who happens to be the son of the drug lord there. The start of season 1 happens with a tragedy when Ana gets the news of his father’s murder.
Upon digging further, she gets to know about the second life of his father connected with the drug cartel. From the beginning of season 1, we can see Daniel being attracted to Ana from the moment she arrives in Cambados. He tries to get her as his lawyer to make her further closer to him and tries all his ways to impress her decently.
When Tamar was a kid, probably 10 years old, he performed in a minor role in Butterfly’sTongue making his early debut in the film industry. After that, he did many Spanish films and then made his debut in a web series by performing in ‘A vida por diante’ which was released in 2006 since then he has been doing many films and web series.
One of his great works is his performance in ‘The Sea Inside’ for which he even received the ‘Goya Award for Best New Actor’. In his recent work, Gangs of Galicia, he is in the lead role named Daniel Padin, who happens to be the son of the Drug Cartel. As his father is in Jail, he takes care of all his business and people as a leader.
No doubt, Daniel has again done a great job in his role. At the end of season 1, we can see that Ana finds out the people responsible for his father’s murder. She gets evidence stating that Daniel had sent some Colombian to threaten her father but for some reason, the man ends up killing him. Ana asks the reason for the killing to which Daniel responds that he had no intention of killing him, it’s the guy who went there who did it without stating any reason.
Clearly, the first season of Gangs of Galicia leaves Ana unsatisfied about the reason behind his father’s murder. She wanted Padin to rot in Jain but wasn’t able to do so. Maybe in the next season we can expect her to work more towards gathering evidence against Padin but as she is in love with Daniel, she might try to save him from the rest of his family and get away from the city starting a new life.
