Chckmn, performed by Kevin Darnell Hart (a famous American actor and comedian)drives in his car and on his number plate it is written, ‘CHCKNMN’. He goes to sell the betting tickets to several of his customers and then to his place, Claremont Lodge, an adult club where several topless girls are counting money and stacking them up.
He hands over the collection to the lodge owner Lena Mosley, performed by Chloe Bailey. Chicken man seems to be having an affair with her as they go intimate. On the other side, Detective J. D. Hudson, performed by Donald Frank Cheadle Jr, is watching the news in his police station. He is the first black cop in the force.
It was the time in 1970 when Mohammad Ali was returning for a historic fight after being stripped of his title for refusing military service in the Vietnam War. Hudson then goes to meet his superior who assigns him as Ali’s personal bodyguard during his time in the city. Upon knowing this, Hudson’s daughter is happy about it but his wife is tense as Hudson has been assigned to the most hated person in the city.
In the Lodge, Chicken Man is pitching a heist plan to Frnak’s man to convince Frank ‘Black Godfather’ Moten performed by Samuel L. Jackson. Then as the next step to become Frank’s Man in Atlanta, Chicken Man calls many big dealers around the country on behalf of Frank for a party and manages to convince them to join in without bringing guns and knives. On the other side, Hudson takes Ali to a remote safe house where he can be safe from all the haters he has gained.

Meanwhile, the Chicken Man goes to receive Frank landed with his mates in a private jet. While driving them to the party, Frank’s mate, Cadillac Richie, performed by Terrence Howard asked the Chicken Man to stop the vehicle at a house. While he stayed in the vehicle, all he could hear was the man screaming from the inside of the house. Then later, someone knows at his house and when he opens the door, he gets kidnapped from his house and brought to meet Javi Lopez, performed by Celestino Cornielle. He asked him to pay 50% of his share of earnings after the party to him as a neighbourly courtesy.
He informs about the incident to ask Frank to talk with Javi and sort this out but he responds by saying it’s his party so it’s his problem, why should he bother Frank about it? Then at the party, Chicken Man introduces Lola Falana, performed by Lori Harvey to Frank. This impressed Frank and in return, he told Chicken Man that he would take care of his little problem with Javier. Now, the night has come, and the fight is about to begin. Hudson is making plans to safeguard Ali in the boxing ring while the party at the lodge is booming with people.
Seems, Chicken Man has something in his mind, but when he notices Detective Hudson near the ring, his attention gets hinged there, and episode 1 ends there. Seems like there is more to know about their connection.
