Joanne In Nobody Wants This: Nobody Wants This, a Netflix original created by Erin Foster is a romantic-comedy miniseries revolving around the tumultuous relationship between a rabbi and a sex podcast host. Starring Adam Brody, Kristen Bell, Justine Lupe and Timothy Simons among others, the show is an endearing and wholesome watch for the weekend.
Joanne In Nobody Wants This
An ambitious, independent, funny and headstrong young woman, Joanne is the co-host of a popular sex podcast ‘Nobody Wants This’ along with her sister Morgan, which aims to empower and emancipate females. Being a successful business owner, she aspires for her podcast to reach more listeners, and thinks of it as so much more than merely a platform that talks mindlessly about sex. A feminist at heart, her podcast tries to help women in similar situations by offering them relatability and guidance.
The Ending: Nobody Wants This Ending Explained
She meets Noah at her friend Ashley’s dinner party, and her entire outlook towards life changes. Much to Morgan’s dismay, she does not talk about her private life on the podcast anymore and deals with situations like the ‘ick’ maturely. While she is a little insecure about Noah’s ex Rebecca, she trusts him, sometimes even more than her own sister. Knowing that she would never fit in being a gentile, she manages to win over Noah’s friends, their wives, his father, brother and young niece. While it is harder to crack Bina and Esther, the women of the house, she manages to persuade them too, rather reluctantly.
In the end, while converting to Judaism does not seem like a big issue for Joanne, she realises its importance, and to make things easier for Noah, leaves him. She truly loves him but not his religion, and by converting she would be untrue not only to Noah but also herself. It is this integrity and individuality that Noah loves, which is why he leaves his position as the head rabbi behind to be with her.
