Monsters The Lyle And Erik Menendez Story Episode 1: The first episode of ‘Monsters’ starts with the two brothers, Lyle and Erik Menendez travelling to attend their parent’s funeral event and discussing over the plan to grow Mr. Buffalo, their food company. Suddenly, Erik notices that Lyle is wearing their father’s show.

Upon seeing that, Erik breaks down into tears where Lyle consoles him to control himself and he believes that their parents would be proud of them. Then they arrive at the event where Erik has to give a last speech for their parents and while doing so, he breaks down again. Then goes Lyle, the elder brother in front of all the people and at the end of the speech, he plays the song ‘Girl, I’m gonna miss you’ with a slide of photos of his mom.

Now this was a scene after Lyle and Erik’s parent, Jose Menendez and Mary Louise who has been murdered. It is believed that the mafia has done these killings. Erik turns his TV on and sees the news where police are still looking for clues to get to the murderer. He even has a dream of killing himself with a gun and wakes up in shock. He then calls his therapist, Dr. Oziel to schedule an appointment. He even requested the therapist to plan the last slot for him so his other patients couldn’t see Erik coming.

Then he visits the therapist and admits that he is having suicidal thoughts. Erik then confirms with the therapist that whatever they discuss will be between them. Then they go for a walk and Erik explains his nightmares in which his parents are getting killed in his dreams every night. Then he kept explaining and at one point, he again broke down and told the therapist that it was Lyle and him who shot their parents.

Upon asking, Erik tells him how they started to plan all this. He tells the therapist that from a TV show, they get the idea and then discuss over it for a week and plan to execute it on Sunday as the maid would be off. This leaves the therapist in shock as to how they can decide to kill their parents just by watching a movie. There must be something else behind it.

Then Erik says that his parents were too domineering which humiliated both of them everywhere. He recalls an incident when they all four were having dinner when Lyle and his parents had a huge argument his mother pulled Lyle’s hair and in a moment it all came out revealing Lyle’s bald head. At this point, Erik realizes Lyle does not have his natural hair but his dad made him have a wick. He even feels that things in their house are not going well and they finally decide to buy guns to kill their parents.

Somehow, they manage to get two short guns and go to their house. They check that no one is on the nearby streets and go in. Their parents were watching TV together when they both suddenly started firing at them till, they died then collected all the bullet shells, changed their clothes, and went away to bury the evidence. Then they go to attend a party and make sure that people notice them and then they return home and call the police sobbing that someone had killed their parents.

While explaining all this to the therapist, he breaks down again and starts to go away when the therapist stops him and asks him to continue and calls his elder brother, Lyle to visit him. Upon knowing that Erik has confessed to Dr. Oziel, Lyle loses his calm but then the therapist assures him that whatever Erik shared with him is completely safe and no one will know about this from him. Lyle then asks Erik to leave from there and there ends episode 1.
