The Bads of Bollywood, a brand-new Netflix original series, released today and marks the directorial debut of Aryan Khan, son of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan. The expectations were sky-high, and Aryan did not disappoint. Here’s a detailed review and breakdown and the Parental Guidance of series.
Let’s talk about the age rating and parental guide first. The series consists of seven episodes, each running approximately 40–45 minutes. It would take approximately 5-6 hours to complete the show. The show features heavy use of abusive language and a few adult jokes, which makes it unsuitable for family viewing or younger audiences. However, there is no nudity and explicit kissing scenes.
The plot of the show revolves around Aasman Singh, an outsider who takes Bollywood by storm when his debut film becomes a massive blockbuster film named ‘Revolver’. However, his success leads him into a series of choices that spark conflicts with some of the most powerful figures in the industry. Amidst the chaos of navigating fame and rivalries, his personal life gets into trouble when he falls in love with the daughter of a superstar, Ajay (Played by Boby Deol), creating further complications. How would he get rid of all this ? to know this, you need to watch the whole 7-episode show on Netflix.
When it comes to performances, Raghav Juyal steals the spotlight as the biggest entertainer of the series. His comic timing, effortless energy, and chemistry with Lakshya Lalwani (Playing Aasman Singh) are simply outstanding. Lakshya, as Aasman Singh, delivers a powerful and nuanced performance, showcasing both vulnerability and ambition. The duo, who previously impressed audiences with their Action film Kill, recreate that same magic here with even more intensity and brilliant chemistry.
The supporting cast upgrades the show even further. Manoj Pahwa as Avatar Singh (Uncle of Aasman Singh) is a delight to watch, bringing more and more fun to the show. Sahher Bambba shines as Karishma Talwar, the Love interest of Aasman. while Anya Singh delivers a strong performance as Aasman’s manager. Bobby Deol once again proves his mettle with a commanding screen presence as Karishma’s father and Bollywood superstar. A pleasant surprise comes in the form of Kabir Bedi, who plays Jaraj Saxena with such gravitas that it’s hard to ignore.
And now, to the man of the moment—Aryan Khan. Honestly, it’s difficult to believe this is his debut project. He has done a great Job and has shown himself to be a powerhouse of talent. His writing, song choices, clever cameos, and ability to mix real-life Bollywood references seamlessly into the narrative demonstrate not only creative brilliance but also a deep understanding of storytelling. The music and screenplay stand out as some of the strongest aspects of the series, with the first three episodes setting a phenomenal pace, thrill and comedy. While episodes four and five feel slightly slower, the final two episodes pick up the momentum brilliantly, leading to a satisfying conclusion.
Overall, The Bads of Bollywood exceeds expectations. It’s a complete entertainment package, filled with drama, humour, music, and some great performances. Aryan Khan’s debut show has all the ingredients of an entertaining series, and it wouldn’t be surprising if this becomes one of the most talked-about shows of the year.
Final Verdict: ★★★★☆ (4/5)
This is easily one of the best Netflix shows to hit screens in 2025 and a must-watch for both Bollywood lovers and fans of high-voltage drama.
