The Frog Ending Explained: Just when we thought we could take a sigh of relief when Yoo was arrested in the last episode, ‘The Frog’ takes us through a whole new rollercoaster of emotions in the finale. Episode 8 begins with Yoo under police questioning, charged with the abduction and attempted murder of Ui-seon.
However, since she is brought in without an official arrest warrant, the chief of police as well as Yoo’s lawyer condemn the unlawful attainment.
Episode 8 Recap
Capt. Yoon Bo-min must devise a different case to indict Yoo, and finding the body Jeon previously told her about becomes paramount for the case. She gives her word to the chief that she would resign if Yoo is not indicted, but he too must resign if he sets a killer on the loose.
To find the body, Yoon and her team scour the neighbouring cornfields and to their shock, find their fellow officer Kim’s dead body lying halved on the ground. Perhaps his was the same dead body which Yoo needed help burying. Meanwhile, a free Yoo commits arson at the laundromat as revenge for the owner calling her a ‘nutjob’. Her lawyer advises her to return home on her father’s orders, but in typical Yoo fashion, she declines.
Prev. Episode: The Frog Episode 7 Summary Explained
The next morning, Yoo once again visits the vacation home to collect her passport and boarding pass but is tailed by her ex-husband, this time sent by her father to teach her a lesson. He beats her up and threatens her at gunpoint, using the same gun Jeon brought home from Gi-ho. But this exchange is interrupted by Jeon, who also confesses to the crime of covering up Yoon’s tracks after she killed Si-hyeon.
The ex-husband shoots both Yoo and Jeon in the limbs before being impeded by Capt. Yoon. After a failed attempt at negotiation, a firing breaks loose, injuring both the police officer and the ex-husband. Yoo runs out, and the two men follow her. The viewers then hear a single gunshot, unaware of who’s been shot.
Leaving us in the dark for the time being, the scene cuts to Yong-chae being discharged from the hospital and his family picking him up. They drive down to Jeon’s vacation home, which because of being left unattended in the snow needed repairing. Yong-chae’s repair work is interrupted by Jeon, whom the former considered long dead. Both friends reminisce about happier times back when Jeon’s wife was still alive. Jeon narrates the story of Yoo’s death, who was shot in the head by her ex-husband.

We are then taken to Capt. Yoon Bo-min as she visits the Lake View Motel to meet Gi-ho and understand his relation to the case at hand. He returns her photograph of the motel titled ‘July 2001, My First Case’ given to him by Jeon, but doesn’t disclose any information about the gun.
We come to know that Yoo’s ex-husband was freed on account of finding no weapon in his possession and Yoo’s father coming to his defence. It was Yoon who covered it all up, as she didn’t want the poor frogs to suffer further.
But all’s well that ends well as the town is now back to its lively self again. The laundromat owner had now opened a successful cafe, Yoon Bo-min became the Chief detective of Violent Crimes, and Jeon lived his aged years happily ever after with his daughter, son-in-law and grandchild in the vacation home.
